SASKATCHEWAN ARTISTS OFF TO TEXAS
Saskatchewan music continues to cross borders, with a record number of artists invited to showcase at the “world’s largest music festival,” South by Southwest (SXSW). Seven artists have so far received official invitations (up from six in 2008), with more announcements anticipated in the coming weeks.

SASK ARTISTS RECEIVE CANADIAN ABORIGINAL MUSIC AWARDS (Dec 2, 2008)
SaskMusic congratulates several winners at the 2008 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards who have ties to Saskatchewan. The tenth annual CAMAs were presented on November 28 in Toronto during a star-studded gala celebrating the best in Aboriginal music. Accolades were handed out in 29 categories recognizing outstanding Aboriginal musicians and industry members.
 
 
Local Composer Scores Top 10 in “Hockey Night in Canada” Contest
Moose Jaw artist/composer Jared Robinson has scored a Top Ten finish in CBC’s “Hockey Night in Canada” anthem search. An impressive feat, considering the broadcaster received nearly 15,000 submissions to the contest.
 
A Saskatchewan First at This Year's Canadian Music Cafe
SaskMusic congratulates Saskatoon’s Shuyler Jansen on his recent performance at the 4th Annual Canadian Music Café, September 9-11 during the Toronto International Film Festival®.  This year’s Café showcased fifteen Canadian artists to music supervisors, feature film producers and directors from around the world.  Jansen was the first Saskatchewan artist selected to perform in one of the coveted Café spots.
